Course objectives
The main objective of the course is offering basic knowledge and training at the microscope for cell and tissue analysis. At the end of the course the student should know how to recognize and discuss a histological specimen and to associate morphological features to normal versus pathological aspects.

Results of learning outcomes
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
At the end of the course, students should be able to recognize at the microscope the various types of tissues and the main cellular subtypes, structures and specializations of the tissues. In addition, the student should be able to distinguish normal respect to pathological morphological features.
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
The students will have to demonstrate to be able to recognize a histological specimen, discussing its morphofunctional features of the tissue.
AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT
The students should be able to identify and critically interpret the information necessary to observe histological preparations, in order to discuss, describe and identify the normal and pathological morphology features of the various tissues and organs.
- Oggetto:
Program
The course will be subdivided in 3 meetings of 4 hours each; in each meeting histological specimens representing normal and pathological (oncological, inflammatory) features will be presented and discussed.
- Oggetto:
Course delivery
The course will take place in 12 hours of direct analysis of histological specimens at the microscope. Specific iconography will be projected to support the microscopy examination.
- Oggetto:
Learning assessment methods
The final test will consist in the description and discussion of one histological preparation.
- Oggetto:
Support activities
Practical activity with the microscope will support the theoretical description of previous teaching.
