Course objectives
Aim of the present module is to describe the cellular and architectural morphological changes that in organ-specific settings lead to the identification of specific diseases and to the recognition of morphological parameters associated with a given biological and/or clinical behavior. The integration of morphology with ancillary methods (such as immunohistochemistry and in situ molecular techniques) in the process of characterization of organ-specific diseases will be also discussed

Results of learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
- recognize the value of various morphological parameters in the definition of diagnosis, prognosis and prediction of response to therapy in different organ/system settings
- identify the heterogeneous cell components populating inflammatory and tumor lesions in different organ/system settings
- critically interpret images of both conventional morphological stainings and in situ ancillary techniques
- know the main current applications of artificial intelligence in pathology
